I use machine learning and remotely sensed imagery to gain insight and produce new information about Earth processes and patterns. My work centers on using geospatial analyses to solve a diverse set of challenging, real-world problems across disciplines. My projects span archaeology, environmental science, and geospatial intelligence, and often involve fieldwork. I think it’s important to be involved in both the computational and field portion of projects so that models accurately match real world phenomena. Also, fieldwork is lots of fun! I bring a multidisciplinary perspective to the problems I address through my professional and academic background, with experience as a professional geologist, environmental scientist, and researcher at an artificial intelligence start-up.
